Alberto Serrano

Alberto Serrano is a Sociologist and audiovisual creator. He is a researcher of the culture and history of Tierra del Fuego, especially the Yagan territory, Yagan Usi, where he lives. Alberto is the director of the Yagan Usi Territorial Museum – Martín González Calderón.

Under his direction, the Martin Gusinde Anthropological Museum has pursued ongoing preservation efforts for its ethnographic collections, particularly those documenting the Yahgan and other indigenous peoples of Tierra del Fuego, through systematic cataloguing and renewal initiatives. A comprehensive renovation process began in 2004 under the auspices of Chile’s national museum registry, focusing on updating storage, exhibition techniques, and documentation to safeguard artifacts from environmental degradation in the museum’s remote Antarctic location.
