When the Extreme Becomes the Norm aims to reach beyond art and academia, based on the belief that knowledge should be available for all rather than made into a commodity reserved for those who can afford it.

The project When the Extreme Becomes the Norm aims to create a transdisciplinary platform for collaboration among artists and scientists across fields including biology, environmental physics, law, microbiology, eco-hydrology, astrobiology, the social sciences, anthropology, and philosophy. This initiative fosters collective thought on ecology and cultural production, addressing urgent needs in today’s world. The aim is to extend beyond art and academia, embodying the philosophy that knowledge should be accessible to everyone, not just a privileged few.

When the Extreme Becomes the Norm is conducted in cooperation with the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
